- What is Trunity Networks and the
Trunity Universal Website Service?
In short, Trunity Networks is a system that integrates a large number of Websites. Websites are essentially Websites that are linked through topics.
The Trunity UPS enables any individual, group or community to easily and simply build Web Websites with powerful authoring, publishing and community building tools. These websites may be as simple as a one-page personal web-site and as extensive as major Web website with tens of thousands of web pages and thousands of members.
In addition, the Trunity network encompasses "Digital Universe" websites such as The Cosmos Portal, which are expert-created and reviewed providing scholarly and encyclopedic content.
Personal, Community and Digital Universe websites are all housed under the umbrella of Trunity Networks. It is an exciting system with significant potential. More detail is available at the Trunity About page.
- How Do I Navigate This Website/Website?
Essentially, content within any Trunity Website is sorted by Type of content and by Topic..
- Types of Content include articles, news, blog, media (images and video), events and resources (links and resource articles). Types of Content are static, set within the system. Types of Content are displayed in "tabs" just below the website banner at the top of your screen.
- Topics can be anything applicable to the subject of the website. A single article can be associated with multiple Topics. Topics are set by the owner and administrators of a website. Topics are displayed along the left-side of the website.
It is helpful to keep in mind
"Types of Content are along the top tabs, and Topics are on the left."
![]()
Tabs - Types of Content include articles, news, blog, media (images and video), events and resources (links and resource articles).
Clicking on a Type of Content Tab results in a list of all content of that type.
However, if you have already selected a Topic, the clicking the Type of Content Tab lists only the content type for that Topic.
For example, if the "About" Topic is selected, and you click on "Articles" then all articles "tagged" with the About Topic will be displayed.
Topics: Look to the left of this article for the Topic Navigator,
in the upper-left portion of any Trunity Website.
(Hint: Scroll-up, all the way, to see it...)
Notice that as your mouse-pointer hovers over the various topics,
sub-topics "fly-out."
You can tell if a topic has sub-topics by the presence of plus-signs (+).
If you click on a topic, a topic-page is displayed.
Content is "tagged" with topics.
Search: Incorporated into the Topic Navigator is a search bar, with a check box titled "Search entire Website Network." Leaving that un-checked results in searches of only the website that you are presently in, in this case the Slow Food Utah website. On the other hand, if you check the "Search entire Website Network" check-box, your search will cover all content within the Trunity Network of websites.
- What is the Best Way to Find Content?
Selecting the Articles tab from the Home Page will display all of the articles, from every topic within the whole Website. You will see Featured Articles at the top, then scrolling down will reveal a list of the articles which can be sorted by Title, Author, and Date of publication. This list can be quite long, at the time of this writting there are about 200 articles in the Slow Food Utah Website, with more to be added soon.
Instead, try selecting a topic of interest, then select Articles for that topic. This will display Featured Articles and a list of all articles for that specific topic. This is a much more manageable way of finding content if you have a particular topic in mind, such as Community Supported Agriculture.
