"Spring Lunch on the Mountain" — April 1, 2007

A Benefit Lunch for Slow Food Utah and Bad Dog Rediscovers America

Enjoy a day of skiing at Alta in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains along with a

delicious lunch at Collins Grill located on the slopes of Alta.

"No Foolin’"

  • Date: April 1, 2007 – lunch served at 2:00 p.m.

    Location: Collins Grill, Alta, Utah. (Map)

  • Lunch will be prepared and served by Collins Grill in their third–floor dining room or outside on the deck (weather permitting) and will include three or more courses, with a brief discussion of each course:

  • Appetizers will include Bell Organics Spring Argulua with stacked Beet salad, with Shepherd’s Goat Cheese.
  • Main Course centered around Morgan Valley Lamb.
  • Dessert including Crème Anglais.

    Utah’s Amano Chocolate will be attending. Art Pollard, Co–Founder & Owner, will talk about Amano Chocolate and provide a tasting.

  • Wine Pairings will feature wines from King Estate Winery, which "is located southwest of Eugene, Oregon near the town of Lorane. The 1,033–acre King Estate is certified organic."

    (Non–alcoholic beverages will also be provided by Collins Grill, at no additional charge.)

  • Collins Grill features fresh, organic, sustainably grown, locally sourced produce and meats whenever possible. Collins Grill embraces Slow Food principles and ideals.

     

  • In addition to lunch and skiing, Spring Lunch on the Mountain will include:

    Brief discussion of the Bad Dog Kids programs, projects and mask art display.

    Brief discussion of Slow Food Utah programs and projects.

    An all–area Alta lift ticket good for skiing all–day April 1, 2007.

     

  • Directions: Collins Grill is located in Watson’s Shelter, adjacent to the angle station on Alta’s Collins Chair–lift. To reach the Collins Lift, drive to Alta and park in the Goldminer’s Daughter parking lot.

    Cost: $90 plus $10 for optional wine–pairing. Includes lift–ticket and lunch. ($75 is tax–deductible.)

    Tickets: Ticket purchase is now closed, the food is ordered and due to logistics of getting it up to 9,300 feet, via snowcat, it is not possible to add additional persons. If you have already purchased tickets, please pick–up your Alta lift ticket(s) April 1 at the "Wildcat" Alta Ticket Office near Goldminer’s Daughter. Your ticket(s) will be on the "will–call" list for the "Slow Food Utah / Bad Dog Kids" event.  ("Wildcat Base" on map below.)

  • Each person will receive an all–area Alta lift ticket good for skiing all–day April 1, 2007.

    Alta is open for skiing from 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

     

  • Even if you are not a skier, you can still easily participate in Spring Lunch on the Mountain.

    Simply ride the Collins chairlift and get off at the half–way "angle–station."

    Please wear appropriate shoes for the snow, appropriate clothing and sun–screen.

    Dress for fun in the sun on April Fool’s Day.

     

    Spring Lunch on the Mountain will be hosted by Jude Rubadue, proprietor and esteemed Chef of Collins Grill, member of Slow Food Utah, and Board member of Bad Dog Rediscovers America.

  • Spring Lunch on the Mountain is a 50/50 benefit for both Slow Food Utah and Bad Dog Rediscovers America. "Slow Food® Utah" and "Bad Dog Rediscovers America™" are both 501(c)3 Non–Profit organizations, and as such up to $75 of the cost for this event may be tax–deductible as a charitable contribution, as allowed by law.

     

  • Bad Dog Rediscovers America

    Bad Dog Rediscovers America

    Bad Dog Rediscovers America is a non–profit organization also located here in Salt Lake City, started in 1997 by Michael Moonbird and Vicki Lyons. "Bad Dog’s" motto is "Changing Lives of Youth Through the Creative Arts."  Bad Dog Rediscovers America "has become a haven for young people to experience their fullest potential and to express unlimited creativity," and has recently moved into a new permanent home in Artspace City Centre at 230 South 500 West, Salt Lake City.
