T h e B i o n e e r s — I t 's A l l A l i v e
Bioneers was conceived to conduct programs in the conservation of biological and cultural diversity, traditional farming practices, and environmental restoration.
Our vision of environment encompasses the natural landscape, cultivated landscape, biodiversity, cultural diversity, watersheds, community economics, and spirituality.
Bioneers seeks to unite nature, culture and spirit in an Earth–honoring vision, and create economic models founded in social justice.

The Bioneers:
What is Bioneers? Bioneers is a forum for connecting the environment, health, social justice, and spirit within a broad progressive framework.
The Collective Heritage Institute, aka Bioneers, was founded in 1990, when Kenny Ausubel and Nina Simons assembled Bioneers for the First Annual Bioneers Conference, a gathering of scientific and social innovators who have demonstrated visionary and practical models for restoring the Earth and communities.
Bioneers – Annual Conference
"Each October in San Rafael, CA, the Bioneers come together as a group of leading social and scientific innovators to share stories, present model solutions and network with each other. The San Rafael event has reached its maximum capacity with nearly 3,400 'biological pioneers' attending from all over the world."
The 20th Annual Bioneers Conference will take place October 16-18, 2009, with pre- and post-conference intensives on the 15th and 19th. Online registration opens in mid-May. Please join us for learning, connecting and inspiration!
The 2009 Bioneers Conference includes plenary speeches from: Amazonian Chief Almir, Brock Dolman, Kari Fulton, Jack Hidary, Sarah James, Jensine Larsen, Joanna Macy, Mari Margil, Jason McClennan, Michael Pollan, Jerome Ringo, Arturo Sandoval, Dr. Andrew Weil, Lily Yeh and more!
Beaming Bioneers:
Beaming Bioneers – Local Bioneers Conferences via Satellite: Launched in 2002, Beaming Bioneers provides access to the restorative solutions and stories of the Bioneers, while providing a platform for local networking and organizing. The Sixth Annual Bioneers Utah Conference will be in October, 2009.
(So, yes Utahns can participate locally! Terry Tempest Williams, 2004 Bioneers national presenter and Utah native says of the Utah Bioneers Conference "A gathering of inspiration and innovation ...Bioneers is creating a community of social change.")
The Beaming Bioneers Program was launched in 2002 with the intention of bringing innovative solutions and strategies for healing our planet to local communities across the country. Each site is unique in how they organize. The focus of their content highlights local issues. Each Beaming Partner site provides opportunities for participants to network and share information.
We invite you to participate!
Here's How It Works... During the weekend of October 16-18th, 2009 more than 3,000 people will gather at the annual Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, California. Since not everyone can attend the California event, Bioneers wants to support your community to participate.
We are offering a "live" feed of our main plenary speakers (five each day) via the Dish Satellite Network, but we also offer other scheduling opportunities. In other words, you can host your event at another time, and still take advantage of the power these speakers bring to your gathering. No matter when you host your event, these speakers will inspire your participants to take action and get connected with local issues.
Bioneers has seven years of experience working with local community leaders to convene public events around the Bioneers Conference plenary speakers. Join us for a weekend in Santa Fe with other organizers for our training
session, May 15-17.
We offer networking and technical support and resources--all of which are outlined in 2009 Beaming Bioneers Partner Benefits. For questions regarding the application process, please read Frequently Asked Questions.

Bioneers - About:
A Leading Source of Innovative Solutions - As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, we provide a forum and social hub for education about solutions presented through the Bioneers Conference and our programs. Our media productions leverage this content to reach millions of people around the nation and the world with our award-winning radio series, Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature; anthology book series; television programs; and our interactive website. We act as a key source for the media, including third-party films and the press. Our DVDs, CDs and other educational materials are also used by colleges and schools and by community-based and other organizations to inform and inspire positive change at the local level.
An Annual Conference - Every October, we convene leading-edge innovators to share breakthrough solutions with more than 10,000 people attending our main Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, California and Beaming Bioneers satellite conferences around the country.
A Systemic Framework - The bioneers are engaged citizens from all backgrounds and fields who focus on solving our world’s most urgent problems within a framework of interdependence: It's all connected. Just as the web of life is intricately interconnected, so too are all environmental and social issues. We take a "solve-the-whole-problem" approach that is holistic, systemic and multidisciplinary.
A Network of Networks - Bioneers fosters connection, cross-pollination and collaboration by bringing together diverse people and projects within a broadly progressive framework. We connect people with solutions and grow social capital for positive change by linking strategic networks on the local, regional, national and international levels.
A Catalyst for Restoration - Sustainability is the dynamic midpoint between perpetual natural cycles of destruction and restoration. In this severely damaged and depleted world, we need to tip the scales toward restoration, regeneration and resilience to sustain the web of life for future generations.
An Oasis of Hope - As a celebration of the dazzling genius of people and nature, Bioneers helps spark mass creativity and engagement. As author and social entrepreneur Paul Hawken said, "Bioneers is central to the re-imagination of what it means to be human."
