2008: Slow Food Utah Events
- June:
- 5 — Monthly Membership Meeting. 6:30 p.m.
- 14 — SFU Booth at Downtown Farmers’ Market Booth. 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Historic Pioneer Park (300 South & 300 West) in Downtown Salt Lake City. (Volunteers welcome.)
- July:
- 10 — Monthly Membership Meeting. 6:30 p.m.
- 19 — Potluck. 7:00 p.m. Notice of location sent out to those on regular Slow Food Utah email list. Contact Slow Food Utah if you would like to be added to the list.
- August:
- 14 — Monthly Membership Meeting. 6:30 p.m.
- 16 — "Feast of Five Senses" 6:00 p.m. — Slow Food Utah’s Annual Fundraising Event.
The Fourth annual "Feast of Five Senses" will be held at the Copper Moose Farm, Park City, Utah. Stay tuned for more details. (Date corrected to the 16th, a Saturday.)
- 29 through 9/01 — "Slow Food Nation". Slow Food Utah will be attending Slow Food Nation in San Francisco. If you are interested in attending, and would like to coordinate with others in Slow Food Utah, please send Slow Food Utah an email lettings us know. It would be great to have a sizable contingent from Utah attend this national event. Please see more detailed information below, including links to Slow Food Nation.

- 13 — Tour and Taste of the Market. Slow Food Utahwill be featured at the Downtown Farmers’ Market, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Historic Pioneer Park (300 South & 300 West) in Downtown Salt Lake City. We invite you to attend, learn more about Slow Food, about Slow Food Utah, and enjoy the day at the farmers’ market.
- TBD — Dinner and Tour at Rockhill Creamery.
- October:
- 9 — Monthly Membership Meeting. 6:30 p.m.
- TBD — Harvest Event at Liberty Heights Fresh.
- TBD — Annual Slow Food Utah Meeting, to conduct annual business of this non–profit organization.

- 13 — Monthly Membership Meeting. 6:30 p.m.
- TBD — Potluck.
Monthly Membership Meetings:
Every second Thursday of each month usually at 6:30 p.m. The location varies, so send an e–mail for the current meeting location and other information about Monthly Membership Meetings. (Please bring something to eat or drink to share and let us know if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly.) E–mails are sent to all members and people on the Slow Food Utah e–mail list providing notice of all events.

Slow Food Nation a subsidiary non–profit of Slow Food USA and part of the international Slow Food movement. Slow Food Nation was created to organize the first–ever American collaborative gathering to unite the growing sustainable food movement and introduce thousands of people to food that is good, clean and fair. The first annual event of Slow Food Nation takes place on Labor Day 2008 in San Francisco with enjoyable, accessible and educational activities for all Americans.
Slow Food Nation is dedicated to creating a framework for deeper environmental connection to our food and aims to inspire and empower Americans to build a food system that is sustainable, healthy and delicious.
Slow Food Nation will be held from August 29 to September 1, 2008 in San Francisco, and will bring hundreds of farmers and food artisans from across the United States to present an extraordinary range of foods and preparation techniques. Slow Food Nation will offer activities for all ages, including food, music, talks, forums, workshops, films and exhibits, all highlighting food that supports an agricultural system that is good, clean and fair."
Alice Waters is the Founder of Slow Food Nation. Alice Waters, owner of Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley, California, founder and president of the Chez Panisse Foundation, and international vice president of Slow Food, has championed local, organic farming as a chef and food activist for more than three decades. Her current work focuses on educational programs, such as the Edible Schoolyard and the School Lunch Initiative, that use food to nurture, teach and empower youth. Her most recent book is The Art of Simple Food.
